Steak with Potatoes and Herb Sauce (30 Minutes, One Pot)

When I’m in the mood for a comforting and satisfying meal, I love turning to my pressure cooker. It’s amazing how quickly and easily you can cook up a delicious stew that’s packed with flavour. Recently, I decided to make a hearty filet eye steak and vegetable stew using my pressure cooker. This is a one pot recipe which makes it quick to make and easy to clean up.

The Ingredients:

  • 1 filet eye steak
  • 2 potatoes, chopped
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 packet of red wine sauce mix
  • 1 cup of water (or enough to almost cover the ingredients)

This is the flavour packet I used, it was actually slightly spicy! I was not expecting that but it was super tasty, even my kid liked it.

If you don’t want to use a flavour packet, you could add your favorite herbs and spices and some red wine to get a similar flavour. Think of bay leaves, rosemary, chili flakes and some stock.

The Instructions:

  1. Set the pressure cooker to sauté mode and fry off the steak until it’s slightly browned
  2. Add the chopped potatoes and carrot to the pressure cooker.
  3. Mix the red wine sauce packet with 1 cup of water and pour it over the steak and vegetables.
  4. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and set it to high pressure for 20 minutes.
  5. Once the cooking time is up, let the pressure release naturally before opening the lid.

The Result:

The result was a tender and juicy filet eye steak, surrounded by perfectly cooked potatoes and carrots in a rich and flavorful red wine sauce. It was a truly satisfying meal that’s perfect for a chilly evening.

Tips and Variations:

  • Use your favourite vegetables in place of the potatoes and carrots, parsnips, turnips, or sweet potatoes would all be great options.
  • Add some onions or garlic to the pot for extra flavour.
  • Serve the stew with some crusty bread or over mashed potatoes for a more filling meal.
  • Experiment with different sauce mixes or spices to give the stew a unique flavour.
  • I used steak to it cooked quicker but you can use beef chunks but you will need to allow for a longer cooking time.

This pressure cooker stew is a game changer for anyone looking for a quick and easy meal that’s packed with flavour. The filet eye steak comes out tender and juicy, and the vegetables are perfectly cooked. Give it a try and see how you can enjoy this hearty and delicious stew!
